World AIDS Day observed in Chapainawabganj

The World AIDS Day was observed in a befitting manner in Chapainawabganj on Friday. Chapainawabganj Civil Surgeon’s office arranged awareness procession and discussion meeting in observance of the Day. The procession started from the civil surgeon’s office and after mparading the main roads of the town it ended at the same place. A discussion meeting was held on the office premises with the CS Dr. Saiful Ferdous Md. Khairul Ataturk in the chair while it was attended by the deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Md. Mahmudul Hasan as chief guest. Among others, Chapainawabganj sadar upazila health and family planning officer Dr. MA Matin, acting senior health education officer of the CS office Shamsunnahar and manager of the Chapainawabganj drop in centre of non-government organization Light House Kabir Hossain spoke on the occasion. Officials and employees of the CS office and workers of different NGOs participated in the programmes. The Light House manager disclosed in the meeting that till 2016 a total of 4,721 people became HIV positive and in 2016 578 people in which 377 men, 190 women and 11 transgenders became HIV positive in the country. He further disclosed that till 2016 a total of 799 AIDS patients died in the country and in 2016 the number of death in AIDS was 141.
Skill competition held in Rangpur

 “Skill Competition- 2017” regional part programme under ‘Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP)’ was held in Rangpur Polytechnic Institute on Friday. A total Of 13 renowned government and non-government polytechnic institutes of Rangpur region took part in the Skill Competition-2017 organised by Rangpur Polytechnic Institute. Additional DIG (Admin and Inspection), Bangladesh Police, Rangpur Range, Bashir Ahmed attended the programme as the chief guest while President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Rangpur Rezaul Karim Milon was present as special guest. Principal of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute engineer Aminur Rahman sarker presided over the programme. Some 39 projects of the students of 13 institutions were presented in the competition.
Int’l Disabled Day observed in Kishoreganj

Social Service Department, Social Organisations and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, postaring, cultural function and distributing wheel chairs marking the International Disabled and National Disabled Day- 2017. A discussion meeting on disabled people, SDG 17 goals in Bangladesh held at Child Families Complex (Girls) in the town on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Director of Social Welfare Md. Rabiul Islam in the chair.
ADC (General & DS) Torafder Md. Akter Jamil, Sadar UNO Abdullah Al Masud and Deputy Director of Family Planning Md. Anamur Rahman attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Ex. Principal Prof Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hindu Kallan Trusti Adv Dolon Bhowmik, Sadar Upazila Vice-chairman Kamrunnahar Luna, Md. Shahabuddin, Social Service Officer Salma Khanam and Monir Hossain. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas said that, the government has undertaken a plan to distribute smart card among the challenged people on the basis of the database by December 2017. Later, a colourful rally was led by D.C Md. Azimuddin Biswas.
