Recognition of Bangabundhu’s 7th March Speech celebrated

Upazila Administration, Saidpur brought out a rally on Saturday on the occasion of UNESCO recognition of the historic 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman recently. After the completion of the rally, a discussion and cultural programme was held at Lions School and College. After that, a documentary film was played at the Tamanna Cinema Hall. On the evocation of Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bazlur Rashid Saidpur Upazila Awami League, Saidpur Raiway Sramik League, Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad, Saidpur Municipality, Workers Party Saidpur Branch, Police Administration, Public Representatives, Political Personalities, Government and Non-government Employees, Sports Organizations, Cultural Activists, Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance, Scouts and Rover, Ansar and VDP, Educational Institutions including Print and Electronic Media and all other people took part in the rally with great discipline. The whole town was filled with the placard, banner and festoons of Bangabandhu. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bazlur Rashid, Chairman of Saidpur Upazila Moksedul Momin, Saidpur Municipal Mayor Md. Amjad Hossain Sarker, Freedom Fighter Ekramul Haq, Acting President of Awami League Rafiqul Islam Babu, General Secretary of Saidpur Awami League Akter Hossain Badal, Municipal Awami League General Secretary Md Mozammel Haque, Joint Secretary of Municipal Awami League Zobaidur Rahman Shaheen and others took part in the discussion and rally.
2 shops gutted in Chuadanga fire
CHUADANGA: Two shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Nicher Bazar of the district town early yesterday. “The fire might have originated from an electric short-circuit from a betel leaf shop around 12:30am and it soon engulfed the adjoining grocery shop, said Khalid Hossain,” station officer of Chuadanga Fire Service.He said a fire-fighting team went to the spot and doused the blaze, reports BSS.
3 held with heroin, Indian Rupee, Arms, Phensidyl
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man along with 1.58 kilograms of heroin and 2 lakh Indian Rupee from Narendrapur Monnapara in Sadar upazila yesterday morning. Tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted the drive around 7am and arrested Md Alam, 42, son of Lutfar Rahman of Hakimpur, along with the heroin worth Tk one crore and the Indian rupee, said Rab-5 camp commander Mohammad Syed Abdullah Al-Murad. Another reports adds: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested two alleged smugglers along with arms and 50 bottles of Phensidyl from Chowka border point in Shibganj upazila earlyyesterday .Tipped off, a BGB team conducted the drive around 3am and arrested Md Jem, 28, and Babu Bhodol, 25, along with a pistol, seven bullets, two magazines, two sharp weapons and the Phensidyl, said Lt Col SM Abul Ehsan, commanding officer of BGB-9 Battalion. A case was filed, reports UNB.
Drug trader jailed in Jessore  
JESSORE: A mobile court here sentenced a drug trader to one year’s jail in front of Murgi Bazar of the district town on Sunday night. A joint team of Police and Department of Narcotics Control in a drive arrested Sabuj Sheikh, 26, son of Chan Miah of Kazipara Niribili area around 7:30pm along with seven pieces of Yaba pills, locals said. Sabuj was later produced before a mobile court, led by executive magistrate Arifur Rahman, which jailed him for one year, reports UNB.
