Coastal Day observed in Barisal

The first Coastal Day was observed on Sunday in coastal districts including Barisal city calling for climate justice. Bangladesh Model Youth Parliament and YouthNet for Climate Justice jointly organused a human chain in front of Barisal Awshini Kumar Hall on this occasion. Sohanur Rahman, chief coordinator of YouthNet for Climate Justice, Akkas Hossain, district president of Citizens for Good Governance (SUJAN), Nazrul Islam Chunnu, Kajal Gosh, cultural activists, Sushanta Gosh, journalist, Khaleda Wahab, women leader, Ranjit Dutta development activist, Meher Afroj Mita, regional coordinator of The Hunger Project Bangladesh, Feroz Mostofa, Chairperson, Bangladesh Model Youth Parliament participated and addressed the programme.
BGB detains 24 Bangladeshis at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh men detained a total of 24 Bangladeshis including 19 men and 5 women soon after they have entered into Bangladesh territory without any valid documents on Sunday noon, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion told. The BGB CO told that tipped off the BGB personnel detained the Bangladeshis who went to the neighbouring country earlier and entered the country through Sadipur frontier on Sunday noon. The arrested were handed over to Benapole port station police in the afternoon.
School girl electrocuted in Katiadi

A school girl was electrocuted to death in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday evening. The incident took place at his residence bathroom at Choriakona villege in the evening. The victim was identified as Shamima Akter Choity (14) daughter of Syed Mostak Ahmed of Choriakona village under Katiadi upazila. She was a student of class eight in Katiadi Pilot Girls’ High School.
Human chain demanding service regularisation

Bangladesh Sarak- O- Janapath Shramik Karmachari Union, Narail District Unit organised a human chain in front of Roads and Highway office on Sunday demanding regularisation of service of Work Charge officials. Presided over by the president of the organisation Zahidur Rahman the gathering was addressed by Md. Chowdhury Shah Alam, Munshi Moniruzzaman, Md. Abul Hossain, Md. Lokman Hossain and Md. Jafar Ali. The speakers said, they observed half day work abstain programme for a week like elsewhere in the country. As the authority concerned paid no heed to the demand, we have to organize this human chain programme. On November 14, a memorandum will be submitted to the prime minister and from 19 to 23 November full day work abstain programme will be observed. If our demand will not be fulfilled by this time, a tougher movement will be launched.
Training for DAE officials ends in Narsingdi
NARSINGDI: A four-day training course for Sub Assistant Agriculture Officers (SAAO) of the DAE ended here on Thursday. The training course organized by the Department of Agriculture Extension(DAE) in cooperation with the National Agriculture Technology Programme (NATP) phase-2 for the 60 SAA officers. The training course will enhance the capacity of the officers to provide agricultural extension services to the farmers. The main objective of the course was to develop and strengthen the capacity of the SAAO to work with common interest of farmers groups and to mobilize them successfully. Deputy Director of DAE Latafat Hossain, District Training officer Dr. Mohit Kumar Dey, Additional Deputy Director Dr Jamal Uddin and Agriculture Engineer Ismail Hossain were the resource persons of the course, reports BSS .
