20 -party alliances held representative meeting in Jessore

A meeting of the representatives of 20 party alliances was held at Jessore Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday afternoon where former minister and also standing members of BNP Tariqul Islam and Gayeswar Chandra Roy spoke.
Chaired by Shamsul Huda, acting president, Jessore district unit BNP, the meeting was addressed among others by Mashiur Rahman, organising secretary, BNP, former minister of JP Ahsan Habib Linkong, former lawmaker MM Amin Uddin, Maulana Azizur Rahman, sura member, Jamaat-e- Islami, district unit amir Prof Abdur Rashid, Maruful Islam, mayor, Jessore Municipality, Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary, district unit BNP. Tariqul Islam in his speech said the government destroyed all the pillars of democracy to make the power absolute. But no autocrat can do says the history.
Ten suspect terrorists sent to jail in Barisal

Police arrested ten including one male, five females, four babies from the city and court sent them to jail as suspected terrorists on Wednesday evening. The detained ten were identified as Lokman Hossain, Jahanara Begum, Amena Begum of Bagerhut, Mahinur Begum, Nasima Begum of Morelganj , Mohaimena Begum of Lalmonirhut and four minor aged babies named as Jaeda,3 months, Jabed, Mariam, Umme Honey, 3 to 4 years old. Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, Kawnia police station officer in charge, said persons were arrested from Soikat Villa in Vatikhana area of the city on Wednesday afternoon on basis of the tip-off about conspiracy meeting for sabotage activities against government. In interrogation the arrestees claimed that they were the followers of Kalamaye Jamaat led by Abdul Majid of Kulsum Baag at Charfession under Bhola district and came Barisal for preaching Islam.
Manabzamin reporter, friend get bail in rape case

A Sylhet court granted bail to a reporter of the daily Manabzamin and his friend in connection with a rape case on Tuesday. Chowdhury Mumtaj Ahmed, a special correspondent of the daily, and his friend Md AminUn Nur were arrested on August 19 after a woman alleged that the duo had raped her. He was sent to jail the following day. According to law enforcers, patrolling police heard shouts coming from Amin’s house in Khuliapara area on the day. When they knocked down the door to the house, police found the two with a woman who immediately began shouting that the two had raped her. Refuting the allegation of rape, Chowdhury claimed it was a plot by police against him as he has been writing on corruption in Sylhet Metropolitan Police.
Two arrested with 5.5 kgs hemp in Bogra

Members of RAB -12 special squad arrested two drug peddlers and seized 5.5 kgs of hemp from Charmatha area under Bogra Sadar upazila on Monday. The arrested are identified as Aulad Hossain, 37, son of Afsar Hossain Amsohola village and Nazrul Islam, 59, son of Safayet Hossain Beizgram village under Hatibanda of Lalmunirhat district. RAB sources said after getting secret information, RAB personnel led by assistant police super Masiur Rahman had arrested the duo and seized the hemp kept in a plastic bag at around 11.30 am. A case was lodged with Sadar police station in this connection said Officer-in-Charge of the police station.
