Foundation of Amader Gram Cancer Care Centre laid

The foundation stone of Amader Gram Cancer Care and Resource Centre was laid on Tuesday morning. Presided over by Deputy Commander of Bagerhat Zilla Muktijodha Command Sk. Abdul Zalil, MP of Rampal-Mongla Constituency Alhaj Talukder Abdul Khaleq addressed the function as Chief Guest and laid stone of Amader Gram Cancer Center .ADIG of Khulna Range Md. Habibur Rahman (PPM) and World noted Cancer Specialist Dr. Richard Love were present there as special guest. Executive Director of Amader Gram Cancer Care Project Reja Salim delivered the welcome speech and present the plan of the project through projector .Chiarman of Architecture Discipline of Khulna University Prof. Anirban Mostofa, Upazilla Chairman Sk. Mohammad Abu Said , ASP Khairul Alam, Health and Family Planning Officer Md. Masum Iqbal, Upazilla Awameleague President Sk. World Teachers’ Day celebration in Rangpur

Speakers underscored the need for quality educators to ensure quality and sustainable education in the country. Quality educators can ensure the best teaching learning in and around the classroom and sustainable education in the country. They made the call in the celebration of ‘ World Teachers Day ‘ organized by RDRS Bangladesh with the assistance of Save the Children at Begum Rokeya Auditorium of the city recently. The organization, beside the government program has been running a project- Reading Enhancement for Advancing Development [READ] program in some 281 government primary schools of the division and providing training for the teachers and teaching materials and supporting for capacity building to enhance the professional development of the teachers. Some 200 teachers and students of different primary schools of the district attended the celebration. A colorful cultural program and debate on quality education followed the program. Teachers and students took part Director Education and Research institute of Dhaka University, Syda Thamina Akhter attended as chief guest Professor Sha Alm and Divisional Education officer, Nazrul Islam were present as special guests with Chief of Party , Read program of Save the Children Shahin Islam in the chair.
Two held with gold bars at Benapole

Benapole customs intelligence personnel detained two men along with seven pieces of gold bars weighing 726 grams worth Tk 42 lakh searching the bodies of the men on Friday morning. The detained are Mizanur Rahman, 40 of Dhania in Dhaka and Mahbubu Alam, 35 of Chandina in Comilla. Abdus Sadiq, deputy commissioner, customs intelligence, Benapole told that tipped the customs intelligence men seized the gold bars searching the bodies of the men and detained them from no-man’s land along Benapole frontier at around 9:30 pm on Friday. The duo was going to India along with the gold bars, the customs intelligence men added. Earlier, the customs intelligence men arrested two Bangladeshi passport holders along with 8 gold bars from no-man’s land area along Benapole land port on Thursday morning.
