Nat’l Mourning Day observed in Baraigram

The 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in Baraigram of Natore district on Tuesday . On the occasion, Baraigram upazila administration, different political parties, sociocultural organizations and educational institution took programmes seperatly. As a part of these programmes, upazila administration arranged a rally and a discussion meeting. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Israth Farzana presided over the discussion meeting. Parliament Member (MP) of Natore-4 seat Prof. Abdul Kuddus was present as a chief guest at the meeting . Also, Upazila Chairman Dr. Siddikur Rahman Patwari, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nasrin Banu, Upazila AL President Abdul Jalil Pramanik and Principal Abdur Razzak Mollah were present as special guests in meeting.  
 Dead body recovered in Gurudaspur
A dead body of an old man Abul Kasem (60) was recovered from Binnabari of Gurudaspur upazila of Natore district on last Tuesday . Abul Kasem was an inhabitant of the village Narayanpur of Gurudaspur upazila. Gurudaspur thana police recovered his dead body and sent it at Natore hospital morgue for autopsy.
A man killed in a road accident in Natore
A motor-cycle man Biplob (30) was killed in a road accident at the place of Rajibbati under Natore sadar upazila. He was a son of Abu Taher of the village vabanipur of the upazila. When he was going from Satni to Kashobpur, a collision was happened between a nasiman and his motor-cycle at Rajibbati on last Tuesday. As a result, Biplob became seriously injured. Local people tried to take him to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital but he died on path.
3 BCL activists sent to jail for assaulting cop

A Barisal court on Wednesday afternoon sent three college students to jail for assaulting a traffic police official on Tuesday night. The accused three were Marfinul Islam Maruf, XII class student of Barisal City College, Redwanul Islam Rifat and Amir Hossain Khan, XII class students of Amrita Lal Dey College of the city. Farhad Sardar, assistant commissioner of Barisal Kotwali Police Station, said they were accused in a case lodged with this police station on early Wednesday by Abdul Matin, assistant traffic sub inspector, as complainant. In the case it was alleged that the accused three travelling on a motorcycle hit the motorcycle of TSI Abdul Matin on Tuesday night at Band Road near central Eidgah Maidan.
Sundari wood worth Tk 10 lakh recovered in Sharankhola

Smugglers are once again very active to smuggle ouit the cut band wood of Sundarban forest in connection with the advent of the Holy Eid-ul-Azha. During the last few days Sundari wood worth Taka more than 10 lakh along with 2 trawlers were recovered by the forest guards and officials of Sharankhola forest range in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest. According to the latest information, huge quantities of Sundari wood smuggled out from Sundarban forest by the smugglers were recovered by the forest department from Supati area of the river Baleswar along with a trawler and Sundari wood was also recovered from Chanmari canal near at Bogi forest office under Sharankhola forest range in the early hours of Monday. It is learnt from Md. Kamrul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Geanpara patrol outpost (under Sharankhola range Office) over mobile phone on Monday in the morning that acting on secret information forest guards led by him took position near at the estuary of the river Baleswar in the early hours of Monday at about 3 am a trawler was found coming from the forest and when it was challenged by them its crew did not stop it and on the contrary it began to move fast and at one stage it stopped at Majher char (a big island in the middle of the river Baleswar) near Supati forest office and the wood smugglers managed to escape.

Then the forest officials and guards seized the trawller and recovered 70 pieces cut band Sundari log (220 CFT) wood. The market price of the recovered wood is Tk.3 lakh. The destination of the trawler was Swarupkathi bazar in Piorojpur district. On the other hand, it is learnt from Md. Anwar Hossain, Station Officer (SO) of Shrankhola that acting on secret information forest guards of Bogi forest office raided Dumuria area of the forest at the night of Sunday and recovered some 12 pieces of Sundari log (100 CFT) wood worth Tk.1.5 lakh.
On August 12 (Sunday) at night forest guards seized a trawler from the river Baleswar at Geanpara under Sjharankhola forest range and recovered as many as 94 pieces of Sundari log (391.48 CFT) wood worth Tk.6 lakh from it. In this connection 3 separate cases were registered with the local Police Station under Forest Act.
