Canal freed from occupants in Jessore

Abhaynagar Upazila Administration has freed the Andha- Bedbhita Canal from illegal occupants for the sake of free flow of water under Bhabadah water lodgging area in Jessore. Mandwip Gharia, acting upazila nirbahi officer, Abhaynagar led the drive with the help of the locals on Monday. Locals said a vast area of low-lying area went under water for illegally occupying the canal by the owners of fish enclosures. Being informed by locals, the UNO carried out drive to free the canal from the illegal occupants on Monday afternoon. Locals also formed a human chain at the area protesting at the illegal occupation of the canal

View exchange with journalists held in Bagerhat

Under the auspices of SANAC (Sachetan Nagarik Committeee), Bagerhat with the assistance of TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) a meeting for exchange of views with the working journalists of Bagerhat was held in the local SANAC office on Sunday with its President Adv Ramkrisna Basu in the chair. Adv Md Shsah Alam Tuku, Convener of the sub-Committee for Exchange of views with the journalists explained the need and importance of holding such a meeting in his address of welcome. SANAC president Adv Ramkrisna Basu while was speaking in the meeting for exchange of views (as the president) explained in details the activities are being done by SANAC as well as TIB in the country. Ahad Uddin Haidar and Abdul Baki Talukdar President and General Secretary of Bagerhat Press Club respectively while they were speaking in the meeting assured that they would actively help SANAC as well as TIB with a view to translate their ideas into practice if they would seek their co-operations. The meeting for exchange of views was also addressed by journalists Azadul Haq, M. Akbor Tutul, Prof. Mahfizur Rahman and Kamruzzaman.

Medicinal plants cultivation training held at Jamalpur

JAMALPUR: A one day medicinal plants cultivation and conservation training was held at Bakshiganj in Jamalpur district on Sunday. The training was jointly arranged by Bangladesh Herbal Products Manufacturers Association (BHPMA) and Medicinal Plants and Herbal Products Business Promotion Council (MPHP BPC). Abdur Rouf Talukdar, Bakshiganj upazilla chairman addressed as chief guest presided over by Dr. Anowar Mustaq treasurer of BHPMA. Advocate Jamal Abdun Naser of Jamalpur Zilla Bar, Prof Kabiraj Ashish Roy, President and Kabiraj Rezaul Karim Md. Masud General Secretary of Mymensingh divisional Bangladesh Ayurbedic Medical Association, Mustafa Kamal, Dhanua Kamalpur UP chairman were present as special guests. Abdur Rob Khan, Principal of Dhaka Modern Unani Ayurbedic Medical College & Hospital, Hakim Md. Abu Taher, former Principal of Noakhali Unani Medical College, Dr. Md. Helal Uddin, Senior Medical Officer of modern Herbal Group and Lutfar Rahman of Sazida Foundation delivered their valuable speech.
