Customs intelligence men recovered a total of 9 mounds of fire crackers raiding Khulna bound Benapole Commuter Train coming from bordering Benapole land port on Thursday. The fire crackers were smuggled to Bangladesh from India for using on or before Eid were kept in the toilet, said a press release issued by the customs on Friday.
Police seizes huge foreign liquor from covered van

Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) in a drive arrested two persons and seized huge foreign liquors from a covered van at Rampatty area under Barisal Airport Police Station of Babuganj Upazila of the district on Friday morning.
Farhad Sardar, assistant commissioner of BMP, said acting on a tip-off, a team led by Anowar Hossain, officer in charge of Airport Police Station, signaled a covered van to halt at a cheek post on Friday early morning.
But the vehicle ignoring the signal tried to flee.
Then police chasing the vehicle forced to stop that.
After searching the vehicle 130 bottle foreign liquors and 700 can beer worth Tk.7 lakhs were recovered and seized by the police.
Police also arrested Salman Mia and Farid Sardar, driver and assistant of the vehicle.
The covered van was coming from Gulshan of Dhaka.
The recovered liquors would be distributed in different points of Barisal region for Eid occasion, in interrogation the arrestees confessed before the law enforcers.

Six held with Yaba in Barguna
BARGUNA: Police in separate drives arrested six alleged drug traders and recovered 1,020 pieces of yaba tablets and 50-gm hemp from Kalmegha-Kupdon village under Pathorghata upazila of the district early yesterday morning. The arrested persons are Shakil, 30, Firoj, 32, Ajad, 31, resident of Amratala-Kacharibari area and Nesar Uddin, 60, his wife Hasina Begum, 50, and Kalu Miah, 40, residents of Kupdon village of the upazila.On a tip-off, a team of police conducted the drives at Amratala and Kupdon villages and arrested the drug peddlers with yaba tablets and hemp, said SM Ziaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Pathorghata Police Station. The drug traders also tried to attack on police during the drives but they were resisted, he said. Three separate cases were filed in these connections, reports BSS.
