Sunni leader endorses Rouhani for re-election

A leading figure of Iran’s minority Sunnis endorsed moderate President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday ahead of this week’s election, despite the government’s “shortcomings”.
Sunnis make up around five to 10 per cent of Iran’s 80 million population.
Religious leader Molavi Abdol Hamid said “the atmosphere for Sunnis has been a little more relaxed” since Rouhani took power in 2013, and that most would support him in Friday’s election.
Austria will hold snap poll this year

Austria will hold a snap parliamentary election this year, probably in the autumn, Chancellor Christian Kern told ORF TV on Sunday, hours before the conservative party in his coalition was due to meet to choose a new leader.. Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, who is widely expected to take over as leader of the conservative People’s Party, has said he wants to hold a snap election, which Kern opposes.
3 dead as Greek passenger train derails

Three people died and 10 more were injured when a train derailed in northern Greece on Saturday night and ripped through a house, police said.
The train carrying 70 passengers and five crew was heading from Athens to the second-biggest city of Thessaloniki when it derailed in the town of Adendro, 37 km (23 miles) from Thessaloniki, railway company TRAINOSE said.
