Three public banks asked to submit last 5 years’ reports

A meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on Estimates on Monday asked the Bangladesh Bank (BB), Sonali Bank (SB) and Agrani Bank to submit their last five years detailed statement incorporating capital deficit, write-off and write-back before the committee by May 15.
The decision was taken at the 9th meeting of the committee held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with its chairman Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members AKM Jahangir Hossain, ABM Tajul Islam, Sheikh Fajle Noor Taposh, and Major General (retd) M Abdul Wahab attended the meeting.
BIDA chief seeks French investment in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam today urged the French investors to invest more in Bangladesh as an investment-friendly environment prevailing in the country.
“BIDA is providing different investment related services, including policy, registration and infrastructure, for the both local and foreign investors,” he said while meeting with French ambassador in Dhaka Sophie Aubert at BIDA headquarters in the city.
He also assured the ambassador to provide all sorts of supports to the French investors for making easy their investment procedures.
BSFF, BCB sign MoU to raise loan facility for small fish farmers

Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) and Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd (BCB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop business models and credit products for the small fish farmers.
Syed Mahmudul Huq, chairman of BSFF, and RQM Forkan, managing director of BCB, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at Yunus Trade Centre at Dilkusha in the on Monday, said a press release.
Engineer Rashid A Chowdhury, chairman of BCB, Syed Arif Azad, director general of Department of Fisheries Bangladesh, Md. Ghulam Hussain, former secretary, Ministry of Commerce and current managing director of IFC, attended the signing ceremony, among others.
