S Korea’s ousted leader Park arrested
AFP, Seoul :
South Korea’s ousted president Park Geun-Hye was arrested early Friday over the corruption and abuse of power scandal that brought her down.
The Seoul Central District Court issued a warrant to arrest Park on charges of bribery, abuse of authority, coercion, and leaking government secrets, after a marathon court hearing the previous day.
“It is justifiable and necessary to arrest (Park) as key charges were justified and there is risk of evidence being destroyed,” the court said in a statement.

Tillerson meets wife of US pastor jailed in Turkey

Reuters, Ankara :
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with the wife of a jailed American pastor, Andrew Brunson, in the Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday night, a State Department official said on Friday.
Brunson is a missionary who has been held in Turkey since October on charges of being part of a terrorist organization, according to news reports.

Three al Qaeda men killed in Yemen drone strike

Three suspected al Qaeda members were killed overnight in what local officials believed was a U.S. drone strike in southern Yemen. Residents and local officials said on Friday the attack took place in Mozno in al-Wadie district of Abyan province. The three killed included the local leader of the militant group, Waddah Muhammed Amsouda, who was meeting the others in a house in the area, they said.

Norway PM to visit China
Reuters, Beijing :
Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg will travel to China next week to meet President Xi Jinping, Norway said on Friday, the first visit by a Norwegian premier since the countries resumed diplomatic relations in December.
Until then relations between Oslo and Beijing had been on ice, because of the award of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.
“China is our largest trading partner in Asia,” Solberg said in a statement.
