UK cost of living rising due to Brexit impact

Britain says the consumer price inflation rate rose to 2.3 percent in February, from 1.8 percent the month before, as the pound’s drop since Britain’s vote to leave the European Union caused the cost of living to rise.
The Office of National Statistics said Tuesday the annual rate is the highest in 3½ years.

Erdogan may review ties with Europe after referendum

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said after an April referendum Turkey may review relations with Europe, which he described as ‘fascist and cruel’ and resembling that of the pre-World War Two era.
Turkey and Europe are at loggerheads with Ankara accusing some European countries such as Germany and the Netherlands of applying what it says are ‘Nazi methods’ by banning the rallies of Turkish ministers among expatriate Turks ahead of a key vote that could give Erdogan greater powers.

Hunger kills at least 26 in Somalia

At least 26 people died from hunger in the semi-autonomous Jubbaland region of southern Somalia in just a day an a half, federal government radio said on its website. Somalia, like other countries in the region, is facing a devastating drought that has killed livestock, cut harvests and left 6.2 million people, about half its population, in need of food aid. The acute hunger gripping Jubbaland caused an exodus of hundreds of families into the capital Mogadishu seeking help.

Greek police contacting targets of parcel bombs

Police in Greece are contacting the targets of eight parcel bombs addressed to European finance officials and businesses in various European countries, after the devices were discovered and neutralized at a postal sorting office near Athens.
Authorities said Tuesday they would not officially release information on who the devices were being sent to until those targeted had been informed. The parcels had been falsely labeled as being sent from academic institutions.
