Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim urged the Finance Minister to allocate a greater outlay for his ministry in the revised budget in order to accelerate the ongoing programmes in the vital sector.
He made the appeal before the Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith at a meeting held recently at the Finance Ministry. Muhith assured the Health Minister of considering the matter seriously.
During the meeting, Mohammad Nasim reviewed the progress of the projects undertaken for the Sylhet division and instructed authorities concerned to find a suitable location for the establishment of the proposed medical university in Sylhet.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has earlier announced to set up one medical university in each administrative division of the country.
Health Secretary Sirajul islam and senior officials from concerned two ministries were present.
