UP chairmen-secys confce held at Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj district conference of the union parishads’ chairmen and secretaries was held at the Local Art Council Hall on Monday. The Union Parishad Governance Project (UPGP), a project of the Local Government Ministry supported by the UNDP, organised the programme, first of this kind. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended it as the chief guest, while ADC (General) and Deputy Director of the Local Government Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil presided at the conference. Discussions on planning, regular holding of meetings, tax fixation and collection thereof in line with the Union Parishad Act- 2009 were the agendas. The DC in his speech put emphasis on open budget meeting, quick service delivery, transparency and accountability of the UP chairmen, secretaries and other employees, scheme Implementation process as well as good governance. He said that the commuter skills of UP Secretary are necessary for building digital UP. He Austagram UNO reminded the chairmen and the secretaries of the Union Parishad Act- 2009, necessity of timely scheme execution, people-friendly UP and record keeping. The conference was addressed, among others, by UNDP District UPGP Manager Md. Nazrul Islam, UZGP District Facilitator Monir Hossain Mujumder, Austagram UNO Abu Taher Sayeed, Karimganj UNO Asma Begum, Tarail UNO Sultana Akther, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Josudal UP Chairman Imteaz Ahmed Rajon and Mithamoin UP Chairman Advocate Sharif Kamal. UNOs, UP Chairman and Secretaries of 13 upazila participated the conference.
School boy drowns in Brahmanbaria
Brahmanbaria: A school boy drowned in a pond at Datiara of the district town on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sakib, 16, a class-X student of Annada Government High School and son of Yasin Miah, a resident of the area. Quoting family members, police said Sakib drowned in the pond of Power Distribution Division in the area while taking bath around 2.00pm. Later, firefighters recovered Sakib’s body.
Workshop on Industrial entrepreneurship development ends
Narsingdi: A five-day long training workshop on the “Industrial Entrepreneurship Development” concluded here on Wednesday. The workshop was organized by National Association of Small and Cottage Industry Bangladesh (NASCIB) in association with the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Mohammad Mozammal Hoque attended the concluding session of the workshop as chief guest with President of NASCIB Narsingdi district Al-Haj Mohammad Nural Hoque in the chair. It was also addressed, among others, by Director of Narsingdi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Al-Haj Mominur Rahman, Former Member Secretary of NASCIB Al-Haj Rostam Ali, former Director of Narsingdi Chamber of Commerce Abdul Qudas, and Extension officer of BACIC Mosheraf Hossain. A total of 30 entrepreneurs of the district took part in the five-day workshop. Chief guest Mozzamal Hoque said Bangladesh is progressing towards huge development in industrial sector. Sexagenarian man killed in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: A sexagenarian man was killed by miscreants at Baburchar village in Islampur upazila early recently. The victim was identified as Somed Ali, 60, a resident of Jhigatala village of the upazila. He was a former member of Kulkandi Union Parishad. Officer-in-charge of Islampur Police Station Din-E-Alam said Somed might have been gunned down around 12:30am. However, it is still not clear what prompted the miscreants to kill Somed, the OC added, reports UNB.
