Putin-Trump meeting likely before July

The Kremlin said on Monday there was talk of a possible meeting between President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump taking place before a G20 summit in July, but there was nothing specific to report so far.
The two men have never met, but both have said they want to try to mend battered U.S.-Russia ties, which fell to their lowest level since the Cold War after Moscow’s 2014 annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea.

Beijing braces for fresh heavy smog

Chinese cities that sit on three pollution “highways” have been told to coordinate efforts to reduce emissions, as Beijing and the country’s northeast regions brace for another bout of heavy smog this week, state media reported on Monday.
There are 20 cities which sit on three western, central and eastern routes on which air-borne pollutants travel north due to geological and meteorological conditions, the China Daily newspaper said citing the Ministry of Environment.

Serbia will get Russian fighter jets

Serbia’s defense minister said Sunday the country is getting a shipment of Russian fighter jets, supplies that could worsen tensions with neighboring states.
Defense Minister Zoran Djordjevic said after returning from one of his frequent visits to Moscow that six MiG-29s will be delivered to Serbia “soon.”

Train derails in California

A freight train that jumped tracks while crossing a bridge in California plunged 22 coaches into a swollen river. No one was injured in the accident.
Three people were onboard the train when it derailed at about 12:45 p.m. (Local Time) on Friday near the city of Elk Grove, the Union Pacific Railroad spokesman Justin Jacobs was quoted by the local KCRA TV as saying.
