Road accident kills school boy, injures one

One school boy was killed and another one injured in a road accident with battery run three wheeler at Ghogadaha area under Kurigram Sadar upazila on Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin 16 and student of class ten of Ghogadaha High School and son of Abu Sufean of village Moratari under Ghogadaha union of the upazila. Locals and police sources said the accident took place at Moratary village while a motor bike collided head on with a battery run three wheeler. Jasim 16 sat behind the motor bike driver was killed on the spot and driver Hafizur was injured seriously who was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition for better treatment.Inspector of Kurigram Sadar Police Station Rawshan Kabir admitted the incident and told that the body will be handed over to his relatives after performing autopsy.
Rickshaw puller killed

A battery -run rickshaw puller was crushed by truck in Osmaninagar recently. He was identified as Saiful Islam 35, son of Dorog Ali. He haile from Kandua under Netrokona . The accident occurred on Saturday in front of Pubali Bank on Sylhet-Dhaka Highway. On receiving news police and fire brigade rescued the victim and sent him to Osmani Medical College Hospital. It is learnt sylhet -bound truck lost its control and dashed the rickshaw. Saiful died in Osmani Medical College.
View-exchange meeting on sugarcane cultivation
CHUADANGA: An exchange of views meeting on increasing sugarcane cultivation in Darsana Sugar Mills zone area of the district was held on Darsana Sugar Mills Officers’ Club premises on Friday afternoon. Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation AKM Delwar Hossain was present on the occasion as chief guest. Managing director of Darsana Sugar Mills ABM Ashraf Hossain presided over the function. A large number of sugarcane cultivators, officials of Darsana Sugar Mills and CBA leaders of the mills attended the function.Chief guest Delwar Hossain called upon the sugarcane cultivators to increase production for saving the sugar industry. He said the present government is a farmer-friendly administration and because of this prices of sugarcane have been increased to inspire sugarcane cultivation in the country, reports BSS.
Youth held with 1,400 Yaba in Barguna
BARGUNA: Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested a drug peddler with 1,400 pieces of yaba tablets from Singrabunia village in Sadar upazila in the early on Wednesday.The arrestee was identified as Sumon Shikder, 30, resident of the same area.On a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted the drive in the area and arrested Sumon with the yaba tablets and some local weapons from his residence, an official of the police said.A case was filed in this connection, reports BSS.
 Education Week observed in Narail
NARAIL: Programme of National Primary Education Week was observed in the district yesterday in a befitting manner. To mark the day a rally organized by the district administration paraded different streets in the town. A discussion meeting was also held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner. Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud presided over the meeting while Sheik Hafijur Rahman MP attended as chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Md Siddiqur Rahman, district Primary Education Officer MD Jeser Ali and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahbubur Rashid spoke among others, reports BSS.
