Vocational Education Week ends in Narsingdi

A week long Technical and vocational education week 2014 ended at Narsingdi Polytechnic institute here on Tuesday. The week long Technical and vocational education week celebrated in Narsingdi district holding various programmes including raly, seminar, awareness meeting, discussion and prize giving ceremony.Deputy commissioner Narsingdi Obaidul Aqam as chief guest on 18 June formally inaugurated the week at Narsingdi Polytechnic Institute.In the concluding day Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Suriaya Begum attended the programmes and addressed on the importance of technical and vocational education and distributed prizes among the students and teachers who were participated in the annual sports competition of the institute as chief guest.
 Shishu Ananda Mela held in C’nawabganj

A two day long Shishu Ananda Mela and Cultaral Festival was held in Chapainawabganj on Thursday and Friday.The fair was held at Shahid Satu Hall in the town. A total of nine stalls were set in the fair by children related institutions including Shishu Academy. It started on Thursday as Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangir Kabir inaugurated the fair as chief guest. The inaugural function was presented with children’s competitions on drawing, dance, patriotic song and disguise. The concluding function was held on the fair premises on Friday evening with additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) Nazrul Islam in the chair. Among others, deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangir Kabir as chief guest, mayor of Chapainawabganj municipality Maolana Abdul Matin, chairman of the department of Bangla of Chapainawabganj Government College Professor Dr. Mazharul Islam Toru, founder of scouts organization ‘Mukta Mohadal’ Musfiqur Rahman and Chapainawabganj district children affairs officer Shafiqul Alom spoke in the function.
Attestation parade of 84th recruit batch of BGB held in Netrakona

The ceremonial attestation parade of 84th recruit batch of Border Guard Bangladesh(BGB) was held on Tuesday. No -11 BGB Battalion in Netrakona arranged the parade at it’s parade ground here. Sector commander of the BGB Mymensing sector Col Sheikh Mohammad Moniruzzaman attended the function as chief guest and formally took salute at the parade from a decorated rostrum. High ranking civil, police and BGB officers including Director of 27th BGB Mymensing Lt Col Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Commanding Officer of No-11 BGB, Netrakona Lt Col KM Imam Ahsan, Deputy Director of Local Government Department, Netrakona Lutfur Rahaman, Additional Police Super Abdul Mumen , local elite and journalists also witnessed the parade. Addressing the function, the Chief Guest BGB Sector Commander Col Sheikh Mohammad Moniruzzaman paid glowing tributes to the memories of the father of the nation Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyred freedom fighters. He also paid rich tributes to the memories of 817 martyred BGB members including Bir Srestyo Nur Mohammad Sheikh and Bir Srestyo Munshi Abdur Rouf who laid down their lives during the country’s liberation war and he recalled their outstanding contributions in the war.
 AL founding anniv observed in Sylhet

Awami League, Sylhet District and city units observed the 65th anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL). On Monday at around 12pm, Awami League Sylhet District and City Units brought out a colourful procession from the city’s Registrar Field, marched the city’s various points and held a meeting on Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar premises. City AL President Bodor Uddin Kamran presided over the meeting while District AL President Abdus Zohir Chowdhury Sufian, Vice-President Ashfaque Ahmed, General Secretary Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury, City AL General Secretary Asad Uddin spoke in the meeting. Among others, AL leaders Nasir Uddin Khan, Bijit Chowdhury, Masuk Uddin, ATM Hasan Jebul, Abdul Khalik and Juber Khan were present. In the procession, activists, leaders of Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Shramik League and Krishak League took part.
Tk 90 thousand snatched in Sylhet
Miscreants have snatched Tk 90 thousand from a Business man. Incident took place near Kumargown bypass road on Monday afternoon. Abdul Goffar was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. “Monday at around 5:00 pm some miscreants stopped the CNG rickshaw carrying Business man Abdul Goffar. They stebed him on his leg and took away Tk 90 thousand, “Arif Ahmed, S.I of Jalalbad Police Station told that. None could be detained yet in connection with the mugging, added Goffar.
