20 held on different charges in Companigonj
Companigonj Police in separate drives from Sunday night till Thursday morning and Thursday night till Friday morning, arrested 20 persons including 5 murderer from Companigonj upazilas of the Sylhet district. District police control room sources said, Companigonj Police arrested 20 persons including 5 murderer from upazilas of the Sylhet district. OC of Companigonj Bayes Alam Confirmed the news and said, The arrested were sent to jail.

Narsingdi Sadar thana police arrested absconding Hang to death sentence convicted from Gazipur district town area at4.30 am on January 19 . Arrested absconding death sentence convicted person is identified as Imran(22) son of Hazrat Ali of Badarpur village under Narsingdi upazila of the district. According Narsingdi sadar thana police sources that Narsingdi District Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal Judge handed over(Down) Hang to Death Imran for killed a child on 2015. In absence of him(Imran) court handed over (Down) Judgment.He was absconding long days and living at Gazipur district. Acting on a tip of Narsingdi sadar thana police led Sub Inspector(S I) Arabikul Islam raided Gazipur district head quarter and early morning arrested him(Imran). Officer In charge (OC) Investigation of Sadar thana Salah Uddin said this correspondent that Imran strangulated to killed a child name Ali (6) son of Shohrab Hossain of Badarpur village on May 2014.
One held in connection of gang -rape of housewife, video recording

Wazirpur police under Barisal district arrested one youth in connection of gang- raping house wife and video recording of the crime. One of the arrested offenders sent to Barisal jail after producing before the court and the victim sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital on Wednesday. Iqbal Hossain, inspector (investigation) of the police station, said the victim lodged a case in this connection with this police station on January 16 night against five accused. Then after starting drive police arrested Shamim Mohajon, one of the accused on early Wednesday. Drive for arresting other accused and recovering the recorded video going on, the police official told. In the case the victim, wife of a poor rickshaw puller and mother of two children, of Gazirpar area of Borakotha union of the PS, alleged that when she was crossing a narrow alley of Daberkul Bazaar in the area on January 14 evening. Then the miscreants ambushed her and tightly holding mouth forcibly brought to the shop of Sohel Talukdar.
Black cumin cultivation increases in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: -Black cumin cultivation is gaining popularity in the district as farmers are being motivated to cultivate the black seeds. According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) black cumin (Kalijira) was cultivated on 31 hectares of land this year compared to 2 hectares in the last year. This year the black seeds were cultivated on 25 hectares in Islampur upazila, 2 hectares each in Jamalpur Sadar, Dewanganj and Bakshiganj upazilas. Deputy director of DAE M Rafiqul Islam said farmers are being encouraged to cultivate black cumin because of its economic prospect. Besides, honey collected from black cumin flowers has medicinal value. The DAE has undertaken a plan on black cumin cultivation at farmers’ level in the district from the next season.
