Warm clothes distribution in C’nawabganj

Chapainawabganj District Samity of Dhaka and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) distributed warm clothes among the cold-hit poor people of Chapainawabganj on Sunday.
Sources said, Chapainawabganj Samity of Dhaka distributed 1,350 blankets among poor cold-hit people of remot erea Panka, Durlavpur, Monakasha, Uzirpur, Noyalavanga and Satrazitpur Union of Chapainawabganj sadar and Shibganj upazilas. During the distribution, president of the association Engineer Nurul Islam, ex-president Engineer Mahtab Uddin, Zahirul Islam and other leaders were present. On the other hand 59 Border Guard Battalion distributed blankets and other warm clothes among 310 poor cold-hit people of frontier Chanshikari, Polladanga, Shialmara and Bakherali areas of Chapainawabganj district. Commanding Officer of the battalion Lieutenant Colonnel Md. Hasan Morshed and public representatives were present during the distribution.
Two turtles of rare species recovered , freed in Kirtankhola

Two turtles of rare species recovered by Coast Guard and forest department in Barisal and freed on open water of Kirtankhola River on Sunday. Tapash Kumar Sarker, Barisal Sadar upazila forest officer, said on basis of tip-off one turtle weighing about 50 Kg was recovered from DC Ghat area of Barisal city and freed in Kirtankhola River on way to smuggle to Jhalakathi. However smugglers managed to catch that again from Dapdapia Bridge area at noon. Hearing that forest department informed Coast Guard and they rushed to the spot recovering the turtle freed again in the river. Anisur Rahman, contingent commander of CG, said after asked by the forest department, they rushed to the spot and the miscreants leaving the turtle in a sack managed to flee from the scene. Then the recovered turtle freed on Kirtankhola River in presence of Nazmul Hossain Khan, assistant commissioner (land) and forest official.On other hand upazila forest officer Tapash Sarker further said another turtle weighing about 40 Kg also recovered from DC ghat area when smuggling to Bhola on speed boat on Sunday morning. This turtle was also freed on Kirtankhola River, the forest officer told. Such heavy weight turtles now became rare species in sweet water and on the verge of distinct. So catching, smuggling and carrying those were banned under wild life conservation act, the forest official added.
Tk 40 thousand snatched from businessman

A terrorist group snatched Tk 40 Thousand from a transport businessman in subhanighat. The wounded person is admitted to Osmani Medical college hospital. The incident occurred on Saturday at 12 noon.
