College student commits suicide in Baraigram

A college student named Shamsul Islam (17) has committed suicide by taking poison in Baraigram upazila of Natore on Friday night. Shamsul Islam was son of Fazlul Haque of the village Nagar of Baraigram upazila and student of HSC 2nd year of the Rajshahi Governmet College. He drank insecticides at his town house in absence of other members of the family.
X-mas day observed in Baraigram
Christmas Day, the greatest religious festival of the Christian Community was celebrated in Baraigram upazila as else-where in the country on Sunday. The festival began with the ringing of the bell at mid-night on Saturday at Kumrul, Bhabanipur, Rajapur, Junail and Bonpara churches in Baraigram upazila of Natore district. As a part of the programme on the occasion of the Christmas Day, the Christian Community of Bonpara Christian Pally prayed to God specially for welfare for our nation and country. Prayer functions were held three times at the Bonpara church. At mid-night, on Saturday, the first prayer function was conducted by Father Nabin Pius Kosta the second and the third prayer function conducted by Father Bikas at 7am and at 9am on Sunday morning.
Cold-hit char people get 500 blankets in Shonatola

A group of former students of English Department of Bogra Government Azizul Haque collage have distributed a total 500 blankets among the among cold affected poor and marginal char people of Shonatola upazila under Bogra district on Monday from their own fund. Organizers of the blanket distribution committee Banker Siddique Hossain, lecturer Abdul Awal and teacher Arup Kumar have managed the fund from the noted English batch from last month to assist the poor people. They urged to the common people to assist the cold hit people of char area in this winter season every year. Journalist Emdadul Haque, lecturer of Syed Ahmed collage Abdul Awal, lecturer of Shonatola collage Abu Taher, Head master of Gabtoly government primary school Arup Kumar, senior officer of Jamuna Bank Hasan, health inspector Azizul Haque, teacher Shoukhin Hossain, lecturer Mehrab Hossain, assistant teacher Rafiqul Islam and Abdur Razzak were present in the function among others.
