Barisal City Corporation (BCC) on Tuesday noon launched distribution of Safe Food Cart (SFC) for street food vendors at Barisal to ensure hygienically making and selling of safe street food. BCC authority on Tuesday formally handed over 108 food carts to poor street food vendors at a ceremony with a view to ensuring safe street food, under the government project of Improving Food Safety in Bangladesh. The project was funded by the Government of Netherlands. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) UN and health and family planning ministry of Bangladesh were partner of this IFS programme. After successfully launching 500 SFC at Khulna and 600 SFC at north and south City Corporation of Dhaka, the programme was launched at BCC in primary level, said Sridhar Dharmapuri, senior officer for food safety and nutrition programme of FAO at Bangladesh, in the programme.
Reception to Poet Faruk , unwrapping of book held at Gafargaon

A reception was accorded to poet Muhammad Faruk at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. Besides, three books of poet have been unveiled in the function. Prof Afjalur Rahman Bhuiyan , head of the Department of Bangla at Netrokuna Govt. College presided over the reception ceremony function which was held at Gafargaon Govt. College auditorium on Tuesday afternoon. At this function, poet writer Professor Amir Hossain, principal of Gafargaon Govt.college was the chief guest. Majia Begum,former Deputy-Director,Secondary and Higher -secondary Educatin was a special guest.As a recalling speaker,Poet and Essayist Professor Asad Ullah delivered his on the life of poet Faruk. Child -Organizer Fakir a -Matin, former chairman and dramatist Mir Munayem Salehin Subol, Professor Nur Abedin Babul, Sultan Ahmed ,General Secretary of Theater, Abdul Hamid Bachhu,president of Gafargaon 85′ social organization, Lecturer Golam Mahmud Faruki, Poet , Writer Asst. Professor of Bangla Shariful Islam , Arshad Ahmed Asad, lecturer and President Gafargaon Non-government College Teachers’ Forum delivered their speeches on the life and poem of Kobi Muhammad Faruk.
