Agri-tech Fair ends in Sylhet

A four-day long ‘Agri-tech fair’ Concluded in Sylhet on Sunday. on the Occasion a Discussion Meeting and Prize giving Ceremony held at the premises of Krishi office in Dhopadighirpar area. DAE Additional Director, Sylhet division, Krishna Chandra Hore was present on the occasion as the chief guest, while Deputy Director Md Abul Hashem presided over it. Project Director of the project ‘Raising Crop Intensity in Sylhet Region’ Md. Wahiduzzaman attended as the special guest. Speakers, including agriculture scientists, farmers and officials, have laid emphasis on adopting modern technology in agriculture sector to enhance the production in Sylhet Division. Shofiquzzaman, Rashida Akther, Abdul Ahad Shahin, Delwar Hossain, Tanjina Akther, Aminul Islam Also Spoke.
Construction of 3 academic buildings completed in C’danga
CHUADANGA: The construction work of three academic buildings in three separate educational institutions of the district has been completed at a total cost of Taka 1.48 crore. Institutions are – Kamarpara Secondary School under Damurhuda upazila, Panch Komlapur Secondary School under Alamdanga upazila and Puratonbastopur Dakil Madrasha under Damurhuda upazila. The Education Engineering Department of the Ministry of Education has been implemented the schemes, reports BSS.
53,572 students to appear PSC exam in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: A total of 53,572 students of the district will appear in the Primary School Certificate (PSC) examination this year. The exam will begin from November 20. Of the students, 48,738 from Primary School level and 4,834 from Ebtedayee level will appear in the examination for completion of primary level, District Primary Education office sources said. The students are 25,243 boys and 28,329 girls, the sources said. Upazila wise students are- 6,607 in Sarishabari, 7,245 in Melandaha, 7,539 in Dewanganj, 4,822 in Bakshiganj, 13,946 in Jamalpur Sadar, 6,710 in Islampur and 6,703 in Madarganj upazila.
Md.Abdur Razzak, assistant district primary education officer, said the examination will be held in 112 centers of all 7 upazilas of the district, reports BSS.
Maulana jailed for arranging child marriage in Barguna
BARGUNA: A mobile court here on Thursday sentenced a Maulna to one month imprisonment for arranging the marriage of an underage girl in Taltali upazila of the district. Hafiz Maulana Md Saifullah completed preparations for holding marriage of the female student of class ten of East Kocupatra Dakhil Madrasha. Being informed, Taltali police reached the spot and foiled the wedding. The police arrested the Maulna for arranging the marriage. Later, police handed over the arrested person to the mobile court, led by Taltali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Towshif Ahmed, which awarded the punishment.
2 motorcyclists killed in Panchagarh road accident
Panchagarh: Two motorcyclists were killed and three people were injured in a road crash at Jogdol Bazar in sadar upazila on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam, 22, son of M Alam, and Delwar Hossain, 22, son of Nur Jamal, residents of Tetulia upazila. Ashraful and Delwar along with one of their friends were going to Tetulia from Panchagarh riding a motorcycle in the afternoon. At that time, two other people were going the same direction riding another motorcycle. As the two motorcycles reached Jogdol Bazar, a moving tuck knocked down the two bikes simultaneously around 2pm, leaving Ashraful and Delwar dead on the spot and injuring three others, said officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Mohseul Goni quoting witnesses. The injured were sent to hospital, the OC added, reports UNB.
3 fined for arranging child marriage in Jessore
JESSORE: A mobile court here on Thursday fined three people for arranging the marriage of a 13-year-old girl at Hajrakati village in Manirampur upazila.
Locals said the marriage ceremony of madrasah girl Karima Khatun, daughter of Abdur Rahman of the village, was arranged at their house at noon.
On information, upazila nirbahi officer Quamrul Hasan along with police went to the spot and stopped the marriage.
Later, the mobile court, led by the UNO, fined Abdur Rahman, 45, his brother Abdul Karim, 35, and their uncle Abdul Baki, 65, Tk 1,000 each for arranging the child marriage.
