Police arrested a man along with three rounds of bullets from Dhopadighirpar in Sylhet city on Tuesday night on charge of assaulting a man. The arrestee was identified as Abdul Hakim, managing director of Metro International Hotel. Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Nurul Huda said Monir, son of Anfar Ullah, a resident of Sadar upazila in Habiganj district, filed a case against Hakim on September 20 last. On Tuesday morning, a team of police conducted a raid at the hotel and arrested Hakim around 10pm. The law enforcers also recovered three rounds of bullets after searching his bag.
SUST Admin Reduces admission form price

As per sequel to the movement forged by the students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet took a decision this noon for reducing the price of admission form to be sold to the admission seeking students of 2016-17 academic sessions. The price of the forms for A and B-1 Units has been re-fixed Tk. 800. Earlier the price was Tk. 1000 while B-2 Unit’s form which was fixed Tk. 1200 has been lowered to Tk. 900 instead. Last year the price of each form of Units A and B-1 were Tk. 750 and that of Unit B-2 was Tk. 900. The decision was taken in an Academic Council’s meeting in which Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Aminul Haq Bhuyian was in the Chair. The admission seeking students hailed the decision.
Van passenger killed in Bagerhat road accident

A van passenger was killed on the spot and 3 others including the van puller were injured when the van was dashed violently by a speeding passenger bus on Bagerhat-Khulna Highway in front of Bagerhat new court building on Tuesday morning.The deceased was identified as Azim Shikdar (30), son of one late Emam Shaikh of village Baraikhali under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district. The injured persons were identified as Alamgir Shikdar, brother of the deceased, van puller Sohrab Shikdar of the same village and Sayedur Rahman, a UP member of Ward No.8 of Saitgumbaz Union under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. The injured persons were admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for their treatment. Police seized the killer bus. But its driver and helper managed to escape.
4 held with counterfeit currencies, Yaba in Chitalmari
RAB-6 and police raided the different places of Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district separately and arrested 4 persons along with counterfeit currency notes and Yaba tablets on Friday. 3 separate cases were registered with Chitalmari PS against them on the same day by the RAB and the Police, according to a report received here. It is learnt from the police that on the day a team of RAB-6 raided Aruaborni Madrasa area under Chitalmari Upazila and arrested one Hitlu Shaikh (40) from the west side of the Madrasa along with counterfeit currency notes of Tk.9 thousand 5 hundred. He i is the son of one late Mahabbat Ali of village Hijla under the same Upazila In this connection Md. Yusuf, Subedar Naik of a special company of RAB-6 lodged a case with the local PS as a plaintiff. On the other hand, acting on secret information police of Chitalmari raided the village Santoshpur under the Upazila and arrested Ananda Haldar (40) and his wife Kabari Haldar (25). Police also raided the village Umajuri and arrested Akkas Ali Shaikh (30), son of one Akab Ali Shaikh. Police recovered 25 pieces of Yaba tablets from their possessions. Police registered 2 separate cases against them under Narcotics Act as the plaintiff.
Farmers Field School on IPM held in Baraigram

Farmers Field School on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) closing day and Agricultural Crop Production Field Day ceremony was held at Dhanaidaha under Baraigram upazila in Natore district. On the occasion, a function was held on Thursday. Deputy Director of Natore Agricultural Extension Department Dr. Alhaj Uddin Ahmed presided over the function. Joint Chief of Planning Wing of Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Md Monjurul Anwar was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Director General of IMED of Planning Commission Mr. Rahman, Joint Chief of Crops Wing of Planning Commission Mr. Rezaul Karim, Deputy Chief of Planning Wing of Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Deepak Kumar Sarkar and Project Manager of IPM of Department of agricultural extension Mohammad Mobarak Ali were present as the special guests.
