Bijoya reunion ceremony held in Bagerhat

Under the auspices of Tapan Kumar Biswas, newly appointed DC, Bagerhat Bijoya re-union ceremony was held in his residence on Thursday noon in order to exchange Shardya greetings with the people of different sections belonging to both Muslim and Hindu communities of the district town. On the occasion a lively discussion meeting was held there with DC Tapan Kumar Biswas in the chair. Al-haj Adv. Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, MP of Bagerhat Constituency-2 while was speaking in the meeting as the chief guest told, Bangaladesh is a country where there a complete communal harmony has been prevailing since its inception and that is why her people irrespective of castes and creeds can enjoy their rites in the true sense of the term. It was also addressed among others by Happy Boral, MP (elected from reserved constituency), Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat, Dr, Arun Chandra Maondol, Civisl Surgeon of Bagerhat, MP-wife Mrs. Morsheda Khanam, DC-wife Promila Sarkar, SP-wife Poli Rani Roy, Amit Roy, President of Bagerhat District Puja Udjapan Parishad, President of Bagerhat district Hindu-Baudha-Hindu-Khristan Oikya Parishad, Prof. Chowdhury Abdur Rob, Prof. Bulbul Kabir, Dr, Geanranjan Chakrabarty, Shilpi Samaddar, Adv Ramkrishna Basu Babul Sardar. Most of the speakers said, Goddess Durga appeared on this earth to make it free from all kinds of evils and wrongdoings and like Goddess Durg our premier Shaikh Hasina is also doing almost the same to make Bangladesh free from all kinds of evils, communalism, militancy and terrorism.
Dacoit gang leader sent to jail in Sylhet

The notorious dacoit gang leader Rafiqul Alam who was arrested in a raid by Companigonj (Sylhet district) Police on Tuesday night has been made appear before the court who ordered him to be imprisoned at Sylhet Central Jail this afternoon.
It has been learnt that on Tuesday night, acting on a tip off, Companigonj Upazila Police led by Officer-n-Charge Mr. Bayes Alam raided at Bholagonj Dhalai Bridge east side at 9-00 p.m. on Tuesday when a group of dacoits were gathering together there. It has been learnt that some 14/15 dacoits together with Rafiq were there. Sensing the presence of police the dacoits hurled stones, fired indigenous gunshots aiming at police of whom O/C himself and ASIs Rashedul Alam, Muazzem Hussain, Shafiqul Alam and Constable Billal were injured. The Police arrested Rafiq S/O Kalai miah village Nayagonj of Companigonj Upazila in Sylhet District. A Chinese Pistol with a magazine has been recovered from his possession by police. It has been learnt that 17 cases have been lodged with Companigonj Upazila Police in this connection.
Housewife’s body recovered in Narail
NARAIL: Police recovered the body of a housewife from a pond in Naragati Thana area of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ripa Khatun, 20, wife of Chawon, a resident of Pakuria village under Naragati thana. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Naragati Thana Mahbubur Rahman said, receiving information from local people, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the floating body from the pond. Later, the body was sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem, the OC added, reports BSS.
White Cane Safety Day observed in Faidpur
FARIDPUR : White Cane Safety Day, as part of the global program, was observed here today through holding rallies and discussion meeting. To mark the occasion, Social Services Department brought out rally from in front the local DC office. The rally paraded the surrounding areas to create awareness among the people about safety of the visually impaired persons who need our utmost care particularly while traveling. Following the rally a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of DC of Faridpur. ADM of Faridpur MD Eradul Hoque attended the meeting as the chief guest while deputy director of Social Services Department Md. Ali Ahsan chaired. Among others BSS correspondent Prof. Shahjahan, ASP ABM Mahiuddin, NGO personnel Kazi Ashraful Hassan, Asma Akhtar Mukta, ANM Fazlul Hadi Sabbir, Abdul Jalil and visually impaired Abdul Kuddus addressed the meeting., reports BSS.
