Clay artisans festival starts in Barisal

The two- days long traditional clay artisan festival has started in Barisal on Friday calling for more patronizations to develop and expand environment friendly clay materials. Eminent artist Rafiqun Nabi (Ranobi) inaugurated the two-day long festival at Ashwini Kumar Hall, organised by Mritshilpi Sammilon O Sammanana Uddyog, describing it as a unique programme in the country to showcasing and strengthening native culture and heritage. Aktari Mamtaj, secretary for ministry of cultural affairs, attended the inaugural ceremony of the festival as chief guest. On the first day of the festival, a painting competition, exhibition and selling of pottery items, exhibition of Nakshi Kantha, painting, books and photo related with pottery, also arranged. More than 200 clay artisans and their associates from different areas of Kalaskati, Bakerganj, Barisal, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Rajshahi area participating in this traditional festival with enthusiasms .
2 young men arrested along with yaba in Mollahat

DB police of Bagerhat district raided a medicine shop at Nashukhali bazar under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday evening recovered some 50 pieces of Yaba tablets and arrested seller Imran Shaikh (35) and buyer Kalai Shaikh (25) from a medicine shop of the bazar.
At that time 2 other drug sellers managed to escape. According to the police, Imran Shaikh, the owner the medicine shop has been engaged in the drug profession in the guise of medicine profession in his shop for long. Acting on secret information a squad of DB police raided the medicine shop and recovered Yaba tablets and arrested the seller and buyer of Yaba. In this connection a case was lodged with the local PS.
Pregnant woman wounded in bomb explosion in Jessore

A pregnant woman was founded in a bomb explosion as she went to collect straw from a nearby area of her residence at Ulashi village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore on Friday. The victim Halima Begum, 26, wife of Shahiduln Islam of Ulashi village under Sharsha upazila is undergoing treatment at Jessore General Hospital, said Kajol Kanti Mallik, medical officer of the hospital. Farida Yeasmin, sister of the victim told newsmen that her sister received bomb wounds while she was collecting straws from near her residence at around 9:30am on Friday. She was then taken to the hospital with critical condition.
Bike driver’s body recovered at Gafargaon

Police recovered the dead body of a Motor-Bike driver from a paddy field at Moshakhali village at Pagla Thana under Gafargaon Upazila recently . The deceased was identified as Shipon Mea (35),son of late Rajob Ali a resident of Gondapara village at Longair Union . It is learnt that the deceased Shipon Mea went out from his home on the last Saturday morning with motor-bike. After that he went out missing. The locals found his dead body in a paddy field at an isolated place some distance far from Moshakhali Railway station in Shahavita at Moshakhali village on Sunday noon and informed the police. Getting news police of Pagla Thana went to the spot and recovered the body.The hurt with sharp weapon was seen on the forehead and head of the deceased body and hanged on his throat with cloth.
