A two-day long information fair was inaugurated at old DC Court premises in Jhenaidah on Wednesday morning. Deputy commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder inaugurated it as chief guest. Earlier a colourful rally paraded the town chanting slogans on information. The main slogan of the day was “Information is Power”. Chaired by additional deputy commissioner Abu Yusuf Mohammad Rezaur Rahman, the speakers expressed on the importance of information now a days and build up the nation with complete information knowledge for all citizens considering the global necessity of the information. Jhenaidah district council secretary Reza E Rafin, Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdus Salam, Womem Affairs Officer Nilufar Rahman, Committee of Concern Citizens (CCC) member Professor NM Shahjalal among others spoke. A total of 40 stalls were displayed following the information fair this year.
10 persons held with Yaba, firearms in Sylhet

10 persons were arrested with Yaba and firearms from Pirizpur under South Surma Upazila in Sylhet District on Monday night. Acting on a secret information and whirlwind tip off, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Detective) Sub-Inspector Shibendra Chandra Das together with a heavy contingent of police raided Koyes Ahmed’s house at Pirizpur just after Monday midnight and arrested Koyes Ahmed (46) alias Lame Koyes Son of late Moyna Miah of Pirizpur, Layes Ahmed (38), Son of late Moyna Miah of Pirizpur, Hussain Ahmed (20) Son of Azizur Rahman, Baraikandi and Tareq (19) Son of Afzal Ali, Kujarkhola, (Baraikandi), Alim Uddin (28) Son of Joinur Miah of Baldi, Shahed Miah (46), Son of Suba Miah of same Baldi, of the Same South Surma Upazila, Shumon (30) Son of Tera Miah, Sunatula of Jalalabad (North Surma) Thana, Parvez Kamran (23) Son of Gulam Rabbani of House No-16, Shibgonj (Sunarpara) under Shahparan Thana, Sylhet Metropolis, Fazle Rabbi (23) Son of Shaistha Miah, Patantula, the same Metropolis, permanent address Hatia of Derai Upazila.
Police recovered a short gun having kept disordered in a bag and 79 pieces of Yaba as per confessional statement given to the police by Lame Koyes. Koyes claimed that the short gun belonged to him and has been peddling drugs including Yaba through Shelim (50) himself and sons Shumon (19) and Imon (20). The recovered Yaba is worth Tk. 15,800/-. A case has been lodged with South Surma Upazila Police, Sylhet in this connection on Monday.
Former principal killed in Jessore road crash

The ex principal Abdur Razzak of Bakra Degree college and a youth were killed in a road Mishap in Jessore. The accident happened in front of Dargha Filling Station of Jessore Benapole road on Tuesday at 11am. The dead were identified as Abdur Razzak ,70,the ex principal of Bakra Degree college and Ripon Hossain ,32,the son of Hossain Ali of Mohadevpur Village under Monirampur Upazila. Ex principal Abdur Razzak was the elder brother of Dr. Abdur Rouf of Jessore General Hospital and also the son of Elahi Box of Paspota village under Monirampur Upazila. Police told that a passenger bus hit them while Ex principal Abdur Razzak and Ripon were going to jhikorgansa from Jessore by the motor bike.The locals rescued them and sent to Jessore General Hospital.Dr. Kollol Kumer of Jessore General Hospital told Abdur Razzak was died on the way to hospital and Ripon was died while he was undergoing treatment. SI Eusuf Ali on duty policeman at Jessore General Hospital, conformed the information.
Woman drowns in Brahmaputra River

An old woman w3as killed as she was coming to bath in the river Brahmaputra at Gafargaon under Mymensingh. Police rescued the dead body of the deceased woman from the river Brahmaputra at Takir Char area under this upazila on Tuesday noon. The incident happened at Maizhati River-ghat area of Charkamaria village at CharAlgi Union under this upazila on t Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Bedena Khatun (62). The husband of the deceased informed that his wife Bedena Khatun was lost coming to bath in the river Brahmaputra on Monday morning. All the family members were looking for her on Monday and Tuesday. The dead body was found on the bank of the river Brahmaputra at Takirchar area of the same union.
