2 ‘robbers’ lynched in Noakhali

Two alleged robbers were killed in a mob-lynch attack at Sonadia in Hatia upazila early Thursday. The deceased were identified as Haque Saheb,42, a resident of Purba Maizchara village of the upazila, and Mahmudul Haque Madhu, 45, a resident of Nijhum Dwip of the upazila. Police said a gang of robbers in a sudden swoop entered the area on Wednesday midnight. Sensing the presence of the gang members, locals came in, encircled them and managed to catch two of them while others got way. Later, the mob gave the duo a severe beating, leaving them both dead on the spot. Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Noakhali Medical College Hospital morgue. Syed Fazle Rabbi, offer-in-charge of Hatia Police Station, confirmed the incident.
Jamaat leader arrested with propagation items

Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh from Baitul Mokarram mosque of the city center on Wednesday noon. The arrested leader was identified as Abdul Alim, president Chandpura union JIB of Barisal Sadar upazila. Shakhawat Hossain, Barisal Kotwali police station in charge, said on basis of secret information police led by Sub Inspector Mojibor Rahman raided at the residential unit of the mosque on third and from the room no. 404 recovered huge anti-state and anti-government propagation items including leaflets, stickers, handbills, books on Jihad, Islamic movement, execution of JIB leader Quader Molla.
Shahid Minar inaugurated in primary school in Chapainawabganj

A newly constructed shahid minar was inaugurated at Chapai-Maheshpur Government Primary School in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday. Chairman of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila Md. Ruhul Amin inaugurated the shahid minar as chief guest. The shahid minar was constructed with the fund of the upazila parishad. After the inaugural function, a mothers’ gathering was also held on the school premises with the president of the school managing committee Tashem Ali in the chair. Among others, upazila chairman Md. Ruhul Amin, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen, chairman of Gobratala UP Araful Islam Azizi and Chapainawabganj sadar upazila primary education officer Shamim Ahmed spoke in the function.
8 alleged criminals arrested in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT:Police in separate anti-crime drives arrested 8 persons including alleged criminals on various charges from different places of five upazilas of the district during the last 24 hours till this morning. Police sources said, the arrested persons were accused persons in different cases, cheaters, thieves, and other anti-social elements.The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat before producing them at different courts of Joypurhat, reports BSS.
Shibir man held over Satkhira AL activist murder
Satkhira: Police arrested an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from a bus in front of the district judge court early Thursday on charge of killing an Awami League activist. The arrestee was identified as Kamrul Hasan,19, son of Khayer Morol of Amtala village of Sadar upazila of the district.Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said on secret information, they launched a drive in the area and stopped a Dhaka-bound bus, ‘Songram Paribahan’ and arrested Kamrul in a case for killing AL activist Azahar Ali in an attack allegedly by Jamaat-Shibir activists on December 7 last year, reports UNB.
