Two Jamaat leaders held at Kishoreganj

The law enforcing agency in a raid detained two suspected militants Md. Dulal Mia (60), Publicity Secretary and Shahin Islam (65), Social Welfare Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Kishoreganj Disitrict Committee from their Nogua residence in the town on Tuesday noon. Additional Police Super Md. Rakib Khan said that they were secret meeting at their residence and recovered many Jehadi Books and leaflate. They also involved with anti-state activities, militancy, terrorism, conspiracy against the country.

B R U R Eid vacation begins

The University of Bagum Rokeya Rangpur (B R U R)will go for a twelve-day vacation from today on the occasion of Eid-ul-azha, said a B R U R press release on Tuesday.
Academic activities including classes and examination would remain closed from Sept 7 to18 while the official activities would remain closed from Sept10 to17. All the residential students were asked to leave their respective halls by 3:00pm of Sept 08, the release also said.

 Madrasa student electrocuted in Sylhet

A madrasah student died from electrocution at Chakta village in Jointapur upazila of Sylhet district on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Mohammad Mamun, 17, a student of Chakta Alim Madrasah, and son of Abu Bakkar Miah, a resident of the village. Baharul Alam Bahar, chairman of Darbasto union, said Mamun came in contact with a live electric wire while he was repairing a multi-plug at his house and died on the spot.

Fire guts valuables in Natore

 Valuable worth about 6 lakh was gutted in a devastating fire at a house of Shahin Ali (35) of the village Agdigha Katakhali under Natore upazila on Wednesday night. Owner of the house Shahin and his wife Khushi Begum (30) received seriously burn injuries and were admitted to Natore Hospital. A cow, two goats, 6 ducks roasted alive. Besides, three tin-shed room, furniture, clothes, paddy, lentil, garlic, onion, were burnt. As a result, a family became homeless. The fire originating from a cow shed, soon engulfed to the adjacent areas. On an information, Natore fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Founding anniv of BNP observed in Baraigram
 
The 38th foundation anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was observed in Baraigram upazila of Natore district on Thursday. On the occasion, upazila and pouro unit BNP took programmes separately. Upazila BNP unit arranged a discussion meeting at it’s office premises on the Bonpara highway thana road. Upazila BNP Convenor Adv. Abdul Kader presided over the meeting. On the other hand, Pouro BNP unit arranged a discussion meeting on the Mohisvanga road. Pouro Councilor and Pouro Joint Convenor Md Atikur Rahman Belal presided over the meeting. Pouro BNP Convenor Prof. Lutfor Rahman was present as a chief guest. Also, it was addressed among others by BNP leader Mofizur Rahman, Sarder Rafikul Islam, Rezaul Karim and Shariful Islam.
