Anti-militancy human chain in Narail
NARAIL: Narail district lawyers association staged an anti-militancy procession and human chain on Court Road in the town yesterday. Former Member of Parliament advocate Saif Hafijur Rahman Khokan, general secretary of district Awami League advocate Siddique Ahmed, president of district lawyers association advocate Saurabh Hossein Biswas, advocates Iqbal Hossein Sikdar, Nazrul Islam and Rama Rani, among others, spoke at the human chain programme. The speakers urged all to be united for resisting militancy and terrorism.
One electrocuted in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: One person was electrocuted at Vangerpar village under Debiganj upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon. The victim was identified as Alamgir Hossain 25, of the village. Family members said he went near his house to repair electric line and suddenly he came in touch of a live electric wire. He was injured critically and local people took him to Debiganj Upazila Health complex for treatment. Later he died in the hospital bed, reports BSS.
Discussion meet of Ganatantrik Party held

Ganatantrik Party, Kishoreganj District Committee organised a discussion on militancy and terrorism held at Local Bar Library hall on Friday afternoon. Former Election Commissioner District Judge (Retd.) Md. Saiful Alam attended the programme as chief guest while Ganantantrik Party District President Advocate Dolon Bhowmik chaired the meeting. Among others, by Prof Dr. Reboti Borman (Special guest), Adv Gazi Enatur Rahman, Adv Maya Bhowmik, Abdul Awal and BSD District Convener Adv Shafiqul Islam addressed the meeting.
ICT training for women entrepreneurs ends

A 9-day long training on Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) for seventy-five women entrepreneurs ended at the computer lab of Polly Daridra Bimochan Foundation, Barisal divisional office on Wednesday afternoon. Center on Budget and Policy of Dhaka University organised the programme funded by The Asia Foundation from August 16 for promoting women entrepreneurships through innovative use of ICT tools. Seventy-five women entrepreneurs and their female associates divided into three batches participated in the training course arranged by District Women Business Forum (DWBF) Barisal. The inaugurating session of the course was presided over by Dr. Banolata Murshida, president DWBF. Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, deputy commissioner Barisal, as chief guest of the closing session, held on Wednesday afternoon, distributed certificates among the trainees.
1 held with pethidine in Chuadanga

Detectives in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler from Daulatdia bus stand area of the district town in possession of 50 ampoules of pethidine on Saturday night. The arrestee was identified as Rafiq, 38, son of Fazlul Haque, a resident of Chunuripara of the upazila. Amir Abbas, sub-inspector of the Detective Branch of police (DB), Chuadanga, said on secret information, team of the DB conducted a drive in the area around 9.30pm and arrested Rafiq along with 50 ampoules of pethidine.
