New Zealand has agreed to provide technical cooperation to Bangladesh’s fisheries and livestock sector and export sheep meat to the country, said an official release here. The assurance came while New Zealand High Commissioner to Bangladesh Jonna Kempkers called on Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque at his ministry office here on Thursday.
During the meeting, Bangladesh has sought cooperation from New Zealand for fulfilling country’s huge production deficiency in milk and marine fisheries, said the release, adding that New Zealand has agreed to provide cooperation in this regard.
The livestock minister informed the New Zealand diplomat on different problems and prospects of the fisheries and livestock sector and sought their assistance.
Regional Agriculture Attach, Neil Kennington accompanied the envoy. High officials of the ministry, Joint Secretary Quazi Wasi Uddin, director general (DG) of the Department of Fisheries (DoF) Syed Arif Azad and director general (DG) of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) Dr Ainul Haque were present during the meeting.
