A trust fund styled “Nazma Begum Trust Fund” has been set up at Economics Department of Dhaka University (DU).
In order to set up this fund, teacher of Economics Department Prof Nazma Begum handed over a cheque for Taka 6 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin on Monday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed and Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year three poor but meritorious students of the department will be awarded “Nazma Begum Trust Fund Scholarships.”
Prof Arefin thanked the donor for setting up the fund at the university and hoped poor but meritorious students of the department would be benefited by this donation.
He also urged the other faculty members to come forward with donation for promoting academic activities of poor students of the university following the example of Prof Nazma begum.
