New trust fund established at DU

A new Trust Fund titled ‘Begum Maleka Anowar Trust Fund’ has been set up at the Department of Marketing of Dhaka University (DU).
Prof Rashida Begum, daughter of late Begum Maleka Anowar and Director of Tetulia Tea Company Limited handed over a cheque for Taka 5 lakh to DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain recently, at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) Office to set up this trust fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur
Rahman and other family members of the donor were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of the donation, every year two poor but meritorious female students of the Department of Marketing of Dhaka University will be awarded the scholarships.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the donor and her family members for the donation and hoped that the students of the department would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.
He also urged other alumni of DU to come forward with their helping hands to support the brilliant students of the university.
Prof Rashida Begum is a former student of the Department of Marketing of
Dhaka University. Late Begum Maleka Anowar, mother of the donor had made
outstanding contributions to promote female education in the country,
although she was a housewife.
