The government is going to form new rules to publish the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations results after police verifications, Public Administration Ministry sources said.
The Ministry of Public Administration held a meeting recently in this regard with State Minister of the ministry Ismat Ara Sadek in chair.
Ismat Ara Sadek told the journalists that they did not take final decision. But they wanted to publish the BCS results after police verifications avoiding extra difficulties.
“The police verifications
will be submitted first. The PSC will announce results. We (Public Administration Ministry) will give appointment letter,” the minister said.
“We get police verification after publishing BCS results. We postpone some appointment who are guilty in different criminal activities. But they go to court and we face different problems. So, it will reduce problems if we publish results after getting police verifications,” Ismat Ara Sadek said.
Sources said that, many BCS cadres faced problems after publishing results. Police verifications were against them. That is why they did not get chance for final appointment. They also went to court and the court directed the ministry to enroll them as BCS officers.
The recent government’s initiatives will reduce the problem. But the general students fear that the initiatives will not bring positive result. They will be harassed in the name of police verifications.
“Nayeem Islam, a BCS applicant, told The New Nation that the government’s step was not good sign for them. “Merit and police verifications are two different things. The government has no right to postpone a candidate’s result if he or she belongs anti-government ideology. The new rule will be used politically,” he said.
