A new prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Wednesday testified in the trial of Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master, Khan Akram Hossain and Abdul Latif Talukder, alleged Razakar trio from Bagerhat.
Nandalal Das, son of Martyr Nishikanta Das, submitted his deposition as PW6. The witness corroborated the earlier PWs and that is why the defence too declined to cross-examine him. After that the tribunal adjourned the hearing till Sunday. The tribunal on November 5 indicted the trio on seven counts of crimes against humanity including genocide, murder, abduction, confinement and torture.
According to the prosecution, the accused had taken training under Pakistan occupation army in Khulna Ansar Camp and set up Razakar camps in different areas of Bagerhat. Subsequently, they carried out killings, genocide, rape, lootings, arson, forced conversion from those camps.
“They acted as commanders and deputy commanders of the infamous Razakar Bahini in then Bagerhat Mohokuma. Of the three, Siraj was so vicious that he used to slit the throat of at least one person captured by his followers, before taking his daily breakfast,” prosecutor Syed Sayedul Haque Suman told BSS.
