`New Driver Testing, Training Centre in every division`

With a view to reducing traffic congestion and road accident in the country, the government has planned to establish new Driver Testing and Training Centre (DTTC) in each divisional headquarters.
“There is no alternative to improved institutional training for drivers for easing traffic congestion and preventing road accidents, the government planned to establish one new DTTC in each divisional city,” Finance Minister AMA Muhith said in his budget speech for 2017-18 in the Jatiya Sangsad on June 1.
According to the government vision, construction of the 20 km long Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), elevated expressway, flyovers and circular train are underway to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
With the aim of developing the road transport sector, the government formulated the “Revised Strategic Transport Plan (RSTP) 2015-2035”. In addition, two elevated expressways-one starting from Hazrat Shahjalal International airport to Kutubkhali on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, and the other from Ashulia to Dhaka EPZ-are under construction.

The present government has given priority to develop the communication sector as well as the railway sector, which was remained neglected as a mode of public transport for long.
