New CNI-DSE select index to be unveiled Dec 30

Country’s prime bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) is set to launch new index, dubbed “CNI-DSE Select Index (CDSET)” on December 30, as part of business and technical collaboration with Chinese consortium.
The Chinese consortium, involving Shenzhen and Shanghai Stock Exchanges, initially is going to introduce the CDSET comprised with large, medium and small capital companies to run branding of DSE index globally as well as encourage foreign investors.
The index is designed and developed jointly by Shenzhen Securities Information Company Limited and Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited, according to an official announcement made on Thursday.
DSE Chairman Professor Dr Abul Hashem will inaugurate the CDSET formally on December 30 and the index values will start displaying at DSE website on January 1, 2020.
The base date of the index has been determined on December 31, 2015 with base value of 1,000 points. The index would be reevaluated in each six-month.
Both DSE and the consortium considered market capital, base and liquidity for inclusion of companies in this index. Now, 40 companies have been included in CDSET.
Currently, DSE has three indices – DSE broad index, DSE 30 index and DSE Shairah Index.
