A new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, named “Meghdoot,” added to the Bangladesh Biman Airlines fleet, will arrive in Dhaka today (Friday) as part of Biman’s plans of increasing as well as maintaining its flight schedule.
This will be the fifth of the tenth Boeing with a seating capacity of 162 passengers to be included with the Biman flag carrier, said a Biman statement on Thursday.
With the joining of another next generation Boeing 737-800 by December this year, the number of aircraft of the
Biman fleet will stand at 13.
In 2008, the airline went into an agreement with Boeing Company for acquisition of 10 new generation aircraft — 4 Boeing 777-300ERs, 2 Boeing 737-800 and 4 Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the biggest ever deal in the history of the airline. Boeing has already delivered four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to Biman.
Presently, Biman flies to 15 destinations of the Middle East, Europe and Asia. With a new, bigger and younger fleet Biman aspires to expand fast and the possible destinations and will enable to resume the operation where it had operations.
