The newly elected central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Monday paid tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman placing wreaths on his portrait at 32 Dhanmandi.
New BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag and general secretary Jakir Hossain led the committee in offering the wreaths in a ceremony which was also joined by members of the immediate past committee including outgoing BCL president Badiuzzaman Sohag and general secretary Siddique Nazmul Alam.
President and general secretary of Dhaka University unit of the Awami League’s student wing Abid Al Hasan and Motahar Hossain Prince, among others, were present on the occasion.
The BCL on Sunday elected the new committee for two-year tenure through direct voting of councilors during the 28th national convention of the country’s oldest student organization at Suhrawardy Udyan.
A total of 2,819 among 3,138 councillors from the BCL’s 108 district-level foreign others, have cast their votes.
