New attractions are being added one after another in the field of tourism in Sylhet area. This time special boats have been arranged for tourists on the Surma River. Traveling around the city on a river is like adding a different dimension. It has been implemented by Sylhet Tourism Industry Cooperative Society. The journey has started from the first day of the new year (2022) with a tourist boat.
DC of Sylhet, M Kazi Emdadul Islam inaugurated the Suram River Tourism with a number of beautiful boats at Surma to give pure pleasure to the tourists.
Prakriti kanya Sylhet has immense potential for tourism. River tourism is a sector with great potential. Which can bring a different dimension to the natural beauty of Sylhet? From such a possibility, small boats on the Surma River will give tourists the opportunity to travel by boat.
Humayun Kabir Liton, president of Sylhet Tourism Industry Cooperative Society, said the initiative was aimed at integrating river tourism into the mainstream of tourism. Surma River Tourism has started its journey with four boats in collaboration with the district administration of Sylhet.
He said, there are various places of interest on both banks of Surma. Tourists will be shown around those spots with eco-friendly small boats. For example, travelers will be able to enjoy the beauty of the river bank including the traditional stairway or gate through which Shahjalal (Ra:) crossed the Surma River.
