A nephew killed his aunty by stabbing brutally at Bioroopukurpar area at Eidgaon under Halishahar thana in the port city Monday night. After killing aunty, the nephew also tried to commit suicide, but failed. The victim was identified as Juli Akhter (18), daughter of late Amnir Hossain.
Sources said, the weeding of victim Juli Akhter was fixed with one Jamal Mistri of the same area. Russel (22), the nephew of Juli came to the house of Juli at Baro Quarter area at Bioroopukurpar at Eidgaon under Halishahar thana few days before to visit the relative house.
The family members of the July went to Chittagong Medical College Hospital to visit a patient. At that time, July and Russel were staying at home. However, at one stage, Russel tried to rape Juli. Later, he stabbed Juli brutally at around 9.30 pm. Juli was killed on the spot. Meanwhile, Russel also tried to commit suicide by cutting his vein after killing his aunty.
Police, however, arrested Russel from the spot. He is undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital under police custody. Russel is the son of Mohabbat Ali of Bajalia under Satkania upazila in Chittagong, said sources in police. Officer in charge of Halishahar thana Mahfuzur Rahman said, “Russel allegedly killed Juli and tried to commit suicide. But, the fact of the murder is yet to be known.
