A eight member Nepalese UGC delegation led by Sitaram Bhattarai, Senior Administration Assistant, Research Division, UGC, Nepal paid a courtesy call on Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh at the latter’s office on Thursday.
Prof Mannan appraised the delegation of the brief history, functions and activities of UGC and also overall higher education scenario of Bangladesh. He observed that expansion of higher education has taken place in the country over the years but now the main challenge is to enhance and maintain the quality at tertiary level. UGC has been relentlessly working for improving quality of higher education.
UGC Chairman further said that some private universities of the country beside the public universities are producing graduates by imparting quality education. Qualified teachers at both the public and private universities are highly needed for producing quality graduates, he added.
Prof Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, Prof Dr M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC and Dr Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC, among others were present on the occasion.
