Nepal wants to boost trade with Bangladesh

Executive Director of the Trade and Export Promotion Centre of Nepal Iswar Prasad Ghirmi said that Nepal wants to enhance bilateral trade with Bangladesh. He sought cooperation from Bangladesh side to promote Nepali businessmen to explore new market access in Bangladesh.
He said this in a meeting with DCCI President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan at DCCI on Saturday. DCCI Senior Vice President Osama Taseer and Vice President Kh. Shahidul Islam were also present during the meeting, says a press release.
Iswar Prasad said that Bangladesh can import food items, fruits, handicrafts, electricity from Nepal. He said Government to Government (G2G) collaboration is necessary to reduce trade barriers between these two SAARC countries.
DCCI President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan thanked Iswar Prasad for his visit to Bangladesh as well as DCCI. He said that to enhance bilateral trade connectivity is more important. He also stressed on exchanging of bilateral business delegations in both way. He also underscored the importance of infrastructure development of our land ports to boost trade through these channels. He informed that DCCI has two separate MoUs with Nepal Chamber and Lolitpur Chamber. “But the cooperation agreements should be implemented properly for the sake of trade and commerce”, he said.
