National Board of Revenue (NBR) has started month long operation to identify those who have been dodging tax.
“We’ve started month long operation against those who have been dodging tax, duties and Value Added Tax (VAT). We will strictly follow the legal procedures during the operation,” NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman said while setting up a statue of Royal Bengal Tiger on NBR’s Segunbagicha office premises on Wednesday.
He said teams led by NBR commissioners will take necessary steps during the operation. NBR will evaluate the progress of the operation on January 21, 2017 and finance minister AMA Muhith will present the result of the operation on the occasion of International Customs Day on January 26, 2017 to be attended by stakeholders and political leaders, said NBR chairman.
Mentioning NBR’s different awareness campaign activities, Nojibur Rahman said NBR presents flowers to the people who abide by its laws and pay tax-duties properly. But it takes strong steps against those who dodge tax and duties, he added.
