On the occasion of 40th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul Academy organized a three-day festival titled Nazrul Utsab recently in the capital.
The festival was inaugurated at Nazrul Bhaban, Belalabad in the city’s Moghbazar area where discussion, recitation and musical programmes were held. Chaired by vice president of Nazrul Academy Muhammad Abdul Hannan, general secretary of the Academy Mintu Rahman and research and publication secretary M Mizanur Rahman spoke on the occasion.
Mintu Rahman, Karim Shahabuddin, Fahmida Rahman, Moidul Islam, Mazharul Islam Talash, Md Bodiuzzaman Badol, Rebeka Sultana, Md Rafiq, Sheikh Jasim, Srabon Ahmed, among others, rendered songs in the opening day of the festival. Artistes of the Academy also took part in recitation.
In the second day, in different parts of the country under the arrangement of the Academy dignity and values of Kazi Nazrul Islam were raised among the people specially in the public places.
On the concluding day of the festival, milad mahfil was held to pay tribute to the Poet’s departed soul.
