UNB, Dhaka :Shougat Nazbin Khan, a young education advocate from Bangladesh, has made her place among the Commonwealth Youth Awards winners from Asia region but her joining the prestigious event looks uncertain due to visa refusal. The Commonwealth Youth Awards 2016 for excellence in development work will be handed over to the winners on March 17 in London in recognition of the extraordinary effortsmade by young people to enhance democracy and development. “My visa application is refused for no reason, and I haven’t even given time to appeal. This is quite insulting for me and my country. This is simply injustice,” Nazbin Khan told UNB over phone on Sunday. She claimed the way she has been denied UK visa is simply ridiculous and the refusal letter was full of wrong information. Nazbin said the UK visa for Bangladesh nationals should be processed from Dhaka, instead of New Delhi to stop such ‘unnecessary harassment’. “There should be a protest.” She founded the HA Digital School and College, which uses innovative digital technology methods to engage its 300 registered students from rural and poor families.
