Staff Reporter :Abducted Nayek of Border Guard Bangladesh [BGB] Abdur Razzak returned home from the captivity of Myanmar’s Border Police [BGP] on Thursday evening.A BGB team brought him to the country through Teknaf land port in Cox’s Bazar district at about 6:30 pm. He was staying at BGB Teknaf Camp till the time filing of this report at 7:00pm yesterday. After returning Teknaf, the freed BGB Nayek thanked Almighty Allah and also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister and BGB, official sources said. Public Relations Officer of BGB Mohsin Ali last night said, Razzak would be brought to BGB Pilkhana Headquarters in Dhaka by helicopter and there would be an official press conference with his presence soon. Meanwhile, Director General of BGB Major General Abdul Aziz said, “Nayek Razzak has been returned without any condition. There was no condition for his release.”In a press briefing at BGB Headquarters in the capital yesterday evening, the BGB Chief said, “The two sides discussed three issues in the flag meeting. It was decided that both the sides will obey the three settled matters.” “As per decision, the two sides will respond within shortest possible time if there is any occurrence in the bordering areas. Besides, the two countries must take permission from each other if anyone conducts any operation on the borders,” the DG said. About the abduction of Razzak, the DG said, “We will launch separate investigation to know if there was any fault of BGB personnel.” The BGB team on the day recovered about 12 lakh pieces of Yaba from the spot. Senior BGB officials suspected that the abduction of Razzak might be linked with the recovery of Yaba, according to the DG. Earlier, the BGP returned Razzak eight days after abducting him from the Naaf river of Cox’s Bazar. He was handed to BGB officials around 3:00pm after a nearly five-hour long meeting between the two sides at Dwan Nandihall of Maungdaw Township in Myanmar. The seven-man BGB team, led by Teknaf BGB-42 battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Abu Zar Al Zahid, who went to Myanmar’s Maungdaw at about 10:15am yesterday for attending the meeting, returned with Razzak.Myanmar Border police was led by Lt Col Thihan of Border Guard Police (BGP)-2.BGB’s Medical Officer Major Md Shah Alam, who was among the Bangladesh delegation, checked the physical condition of Nayek Razzak at the time of the handover.”Nayek Razzak was handed over along with his arms and ammunition,” Cox’s Bazar BGB Sector Commander Colonel MM Anisur Rahman said.The BGB team started for Maungdaw around 9:30am from Teknaf port by two high-speed boats of Bangladesh Coast Guard.Tofazzal Hossain Tara, father of Nayek Razzak, was eagerly waiting since yesterday morning to see his son coming back from captivity. He thanked the government for bringing him back and hoped that his son would be returned to the family soon.Razzak’s wife Asma Begum has also pleaded to the authorities that she alongwith their new-born son likes to see her husband as soon as he returns to the country. His newborn son is also waiting to see his father. The new child of the couple was born after abduction of Razzak by Myanmar on June 17.The same day, the Myanmar Border police injured BGB man Biplob and abducted BGB Nayek Razzak after a shootout in the Naaf River along the border.
