Several labour organisations have demonstrated demanding compensation for the victims of the Rana Plaza collapse and Tazreen Fashion factory fire disasters before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
‘Garments Sramik Trade Union Kendra’, ‘Rana Plaza Workers’ Union’ and ‘Garments Sramik Front’ organised the protest programmes.
Their leaders demanded that BGMEA and government pay salaries and incentives to families of the dead, missing and injured workers of the two tragedies that stuck within a span of six months.
Over 1,100 garment workers were killed in Apr 23 Rana Plaza collapse which came hot on the heels of the Nov 2012 fire at Tazreen Fashions factory killing over 110 workers.
