Navy ship returns after giving relief goods to Sri Lanka

Bangladesh Navy Ship “BNS Bangabandhu” returned home yesterday after distributing emergency relief materials to the flood and landslide affected people in Sri Lanka.
Following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, “BNS Bangabandhu” reached Colombo on June 5 with 105 tonnes of emergency relief materials for the victims of the recent floods and landslides, an ISPR press release said here. Bangladesh High Commissioner in Colombo M Tarik Ahsan formally handed over the goods include pure water, water purifiers, life saving medicines, clothes, tents and power generators to the Secretary of Disaster Management Ministry of Sri Lanka SS Miyanawala, the release added.
At least 19 districts, out of 25, in Sri Lanka were seriously affected by flood and landslides as cyclonic storm Roanu hit the country on May 19 before crossing eastern coast of India, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
