Nat’l science debate fest ends at DU

A five-day long “10th National Science Debate Festival-2017” was concluded following a prize giving ceremony at Muktamacha
of Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday. DU Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall (FH) Debating Club organized the function while Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest.
Presided over by DU FH Debating Club President Sheikh Musfik-us-Salehin, the programmed was addressed by DU Fazlul Huq Hall Provost Professor Md. Harunur Rashid, FH Debating Club Moderator AK Lutful Kabir and DU Debating Society President Raihan Sanan.
Addressing the function, Professor Arefin Siddique said debate is a way of creating awareness among common people for building an intelligence and logic-based society.
He urged the students to acquire knowledge remaining firm on truth and logic.
A total of 16 teams in school level, 24 in college level and 40 in university level took part in the competition.
St. Gregory School, Dhaka College and DU Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Debating Club became champion in their respective level. Earlier, DU Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad inaugurated the festival on May 24.
