Nat’l Productivity Day observed

The National Productivity Day was observed on Sunday in the country laying utmost importance on ensuring the optimum use of intellect and expertise of the people and expanding the technology- based education.
The day was observed aiming to create mass awareness to raise productivity in different sectors, including industrial, agriculture and service sectors. The theme of this year’s National Productivity Day is “Higher productivity for Sustainable Growth”.
The National Productivity Organization (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day.
Marking the day, a colorful rally led by Additional Secretary of Industries Ministry Sushen Chandra Das was brought out this morning from the Osmani Memorial Auditorium gate and ended at the Jatiya Press Club.
Later, a seminar was held at Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) auditorium in the city. Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury attended the seminar as the chief guest while Additional Secretary Sushen Chandra Das presided over the occasion.
Matia Chowdhury underscored the need for ensuring the optimum use of intellectual expertise and said the government is working relentlessly to expand the technology-based education.
“The government is working to establish one technical school and one technical college in each upazila,” she added.
Besides, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private news channels aired special programmes while national dailies published special supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
As part of the nationwide campaign, the mobile phone operators sent SMS on the day to create awareness among the people in this regard.
